Description
This acanthite is from the Imiter Mine in the Imiter District, Tinghir Province, Draa-Tafilalet Region of Morocco.. This is a large silver mine that contains over 65 minerals including acanthite. It is a silver sulfide found in the oxidation zones of silver ore deposits and It contains the elements Ag and S. This specimen consists of silver grey acanthite crystals. These crystals are modified dipyramidal octahedrons that form a chain or stack-like formation. The rear surface is the former matrix attachment point. This piece displays well reversed top to bottom or bottom to top. This piece measures 2 5/16 x 7/8 x 5/8 inches or 58 x 22 x 16 mm.
